Class Overview and Themes
This class presented relationship between theology and liturgy by introducing Aidan Kavanagh's argument for liturgy being the "ontological condition and foundation for theology." In other words, how we pray shapes how we believe.
Themes: "lex orandi, lex credendi," liturgy is the source and summit of Christian living, liturgy is expressive and formative in nature, theologia prima, theologia secunda, the liturgical cycle.
Learning Objectives
LO #1: Develop our attentiveness to God in our liturgy.
We do this through practices and frameworks that help instill active and conscious participation in the laity during worship.

Class #2: Liturgy is Transformational
Class Overview
This class reflects upon the question: "What happens in liturgy?" We explore the argument that liturgy's overarching aim is theosis--the human life sharing in the divine life. We define theosis, and correct some misconceptions associated with the term.
Themes: Theosis, valid vs. effective sacraments, liturgy vs. leitourgia, "meaning" and The Erotic.

Class #3: Liturgy is Ethical
Class Overview
This class looks at how participation in the liturgy situates the Christian within a particular "social imaginary" that orients the heart towards proper loves. As such, it reveals a Christian liturgical ethic as an ethic that attends to desires, places, and bodies.
Themes: Secular liturgies, Christian Liturgical Ethic of Neighborliness, social imaginary, the built environment.
