Holy Comforter News

The weather was absolutely perfect for a gentle through the woods and a picnic by the lake!  On Tuesday, June 11, 12 members of St. Catherine’s met four buses of guests from Holy Comforter for a delightful afternoon at Red Top Mountain State Park.

Harriett Pyburn and Linda Shrake organized a briefing by the park’s naturalist to make us aware of the history and features of the park.  The hike wound through the woods and along a creek. Everyone had hopes of seeing a newborn fawn but none were spotted.

After the short hike, we moved to a pavilion with a gorgeous view of the lake.  We watched ducks float peacefully as we enjoyed our sandwiches.  It truly was a great day in the park with our new friends from Holy Comforter!

Holy Comforter Episcopal Church, in the heart of Atlanta, seeks to restore all people to unity with God and with each other. 60% of their congregation struggles with mental illness.  Holy Comforter provides an inclusive day program and community that promotes the mental, physical, and spiritual wellbeing of adults marginalized by mental health challenges and by poverty.
