Observing Lent at St. Catherine's

On Wednesday, February 17th we will once again begin the journey of Lent. It goes without saying that this year's Lent will be different than what we long for, and yet we hope we have offerings that will help us all move from Ashes to Alleluia. In this season, we are reminded of our own mortality, of our need, both personally and collectively, for repentance, and our hope for resurrection, even when resurrection feels a long way off.

Below you will find ways to connect with the St. Cat's community, in worship, in formation/education and in community.

We hope that you will use the offerings and resources this season and that you will join us for the journey of Lent.

Lent Reflections

An annual tradition at St. Catherine's is our reflections on the season of Lent written by our own parishioners. Download yours below. Printed reflections booklets will be available for pickup at church.

You may also receive it via email throughout the season by signing up for the Reflections mailing list HERE

(no need to sign up again if you received the Reflections emails during Advent).

Lenten Offerings

FEBRUARY 16 5:30-6:30 PM

Our Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper finds its roots in the preparation for fasting during Lent. In the seventh century, Pope Gregory issued a proclamation to abstain from “flesh, meat, and all things that come from flesh, as milk, cheese, and eggs.”

So, folks made pancakes to deplete their supply of eggs, milk, butter, and fat in preparation for Lent.

Since we cannot gather safely this year to eat pancakes together, we can empty our pantries & serve others by participating in St. Cat’s Shrove Tuesday Food Drive for MUST Ministries. With increasing poverty in the Atlanta Metro area, food remains in high demand. Items to bring: Jelly, Peanut Butter, Coffee, Canned Meat, Chili, Beef Stew, Pancake Mix, Tea, Canned/Dry Milk, Canned Beans, Sugar, Macaroni & Cheese, Flavored Rice, Flavored Pasta, Spaghetti Sauce, Oatmeal, Grits, Muffin Mix, Dry Pasta, Baked Beans, Vegetable Oil. Drop off items at the church Tuesday, February 16th from 5:30-6:30 pm.
