The day could not have been more perfect for The Right Reverend Robert C. Wright, Bishop of the Diocese of Atlanta, to consecrate a new Episcopal priest.

​The Reverend Rebecca Roberts was presented for examination by six individuals who have been important to her spiritual journey, including St. Catherine's own Stephanie Yucius.  Rebecca's responses were strong, clear and heartfelt.

 

​I solemnly declare that I do believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments to be the Word of God, and to contain all things necessary for salvation; and I do solemnly engage to confirm to the doctrine, discipline and worship of the Episcopal Church.

 

She was positively glowing as the Bishop said the prayer of consecration and laid hands on her head. Presbyters, or priests, join the Bishop in consecrating a new priest.  Priests from Diocese of Atlanta and beyond joined with Bishop Wright, and gathered around Rebecca, laid hands on her, making her a priest.

 

​Mother Rebecca was given a Bible as a sign of her authority and the sunlight beamed down from the skylights.  She then celebrated her first Holy Communion.    

 

​St. Catherine's has never been more beautiful or more full of joy as we celebrated Mother Rebecca's transition into the priesthood!  It truly was magnificent!
