Travel with the Chancel Choir

2019 International Vienna AdventSing Tour

 

Preview concert Sunday, November 17, 2019

Twenty-four members of our Chancel Choir, with twenty-eight more St. Catherine’s parishioners, family and friends, (52 total) will travel November 23 through December 2, 2019  to perform in the International Vienna AdventSing Festival and tour The Czech Republic and Austria.

 

Our musical adventure will begin in the stunning city of Prague, continue to the charming small village of Cesky Krumlov, on to Salzburg, hometown of Mozart as well as The Sound of Music, and finish with the Festival in Vienna. We’ll exchange with other choirs in the festival from around the world and hear their unique music. We’ll soak up the magic of the Christmas markets in the festively adorned streets of each city.  Among the venues in which the choir will sing will be Salzburg Cathedral, Melk Abbey and Vienna City Hall. And we are looking forward to the opportunities for cultural and musical exchange in friendship concerts with the Prague Mixed Choir, and Choir of Kaplice.

The Tour Choir will perform a preview of their music in a mini-concert postlude at the end of the 11:15 service on Sunday, November 17. We hope you’ll be there to hear us.

All of us going on the trip plan to learn as much as we can about the people, music, history, culture and cuisine of these beautiful countries while enjoying getting to know each other better. We have already had a wonderful time rehearsing our music. Please keep all on our trip in your prayers, and we look forward to sharing our pictures and perhaps a few Mozartkugel with you after we get back!
