Luke 7:19-23
John the Baptist has sent us to you [Jesus] to ask, “Are you the one who is to come, or are we to wait for another?”
Credentials. Just about every job we do requires that we have a certificate, license, degree or some other authorization that assures people that we are qualified to do these things.
John’s disciples asked, “Are you the one?” They are asking if God has licensed him. Jesus tells them to report what they see. Then Jesus says, “Blessed is anyone who does not stumble because of me.” What does this mean? Other translations say “Blessed are those that are not offended by me.” Why would we be offended? Do we worry when we see good being done that the practitioner doesn’t have a permit? Sometimes we do.
God sent all of us. He sent us with various talents and abilities. If we are struggling, maybe we should be considering other paths.
