Dr. Chris Walters
Organist and Choirmaster
Dr. Chris Walters joins St. Catherine's from The Westminster Schools of Atlanta where he serves as Director of Choral Music.
Since 2016, he has led students to musical excellence. Under Dr. Walters’ direction, the Ensemble has performed at prominent venues across Europe, including: St. Peter’s Basilica, Salzburg Cathedral, Peterskirche (Vienna), La Sagrada Familia, the Church of the Madeleine, and Notre Dame Cathedral, to name a few.
Prior to Westminster, Dr. Walters built successful choral music programs in both public and independent schools in Illinois and Alabama, where his choruses consistently received superior ratings at regional contests and festivals. Additionally, he has served on faculty at the University of Alabama Huntsville, at Assumption College, and as Assistant Conductor of the acclaimed Harvard-Radcliffe Collegium Musicum of Harvard University.
His scholarly work has been published in The Choral Journal and in the Cambridge Companion to Choral Music. Dr. Walters holds the B.Mus. and M.Ed. degrees in Vocal Music Education from Vanderbilt University, the M.S.M. degree in Choral Conducting from Emory University, and a D.M.A. in Choral Conducting from Boston University.
He is also a singer, composer and arranger. He is also a huge Atlanta United fan. Chris and his wife, Carri, are very proud of their kids, Tarryn and Shae.
