Thank you to "50 for $50" MUST Food Drives
As a great example of what can be done by one family plus their generous friends, parishioners Fred and Jennifer Massey saw the huge increase in need for food in our area and said, "We can make a difference!" The Masseys organized a Food Drive for donations to MUST Ministries to replenish the Food Pantries in schools in Cobb County for the last Sunday in July, August, September and October. The drive was entitled "50 for $50" with the vision that 50 families would donate $50 of non-perishable food items.
Fred and Jennifer reached out to the generous parishioners at St. Catherine's for volunteers to purchase and give food and also to turn out to accept the food donations. For the first drive in July, over 125 people came and donated food. Overall, the 50 for $50 Food Drives helped feed more than 400 families, including the food items and the monetary donations designated for MUST Ministries food pantries. Thank you to Fred, Jennifer, and everyone from St. Catherine's who supported this response to the urgent need for food for families in our area.
Boy Scout Troop 713 News
Everyone shopping at the Kroger Pavilions at East Lake on October 25th was given a bright orange flyer encouraging them to donate most needed items for the Atlanta Community Food Bank. Troop 713 asked for food contributions with a smile, and their volunteers accepted any and all foods with sincere thanks and gratitude. The Food Drive was organized and executed as Soloman's Eagle Scout Service Project. he Atlanta Community Food Bank was most appreciative of Soloman's creative vision and Troop 713's support to help feed the hungry in our area.
