Growing in Faith (Sunday School & More)

Children & Young Families

Learning (Children)
Trey Phillips

Father Trey

We believe children grow in faith through wonder, play, and loving community. Whether they’re hearing stories from the Bible, asking big (and small) questions, or making new friends, our programs help kids discover that church is a place where they are known, loved, and belong.

programs help kids discover that church is a place where they are known, loved, and belong.

Guardians Night Out: This monthly offering allows parents and guardians to drop off their kids (after Wonder Church concludes) to be fed and entertained at church while they enjoy a night out.

Wonder Church

Wonder Church is a condensed worship service, designed especially for children. It includes music, crafts, creative lessons, and prayers more suited for our littlest ones.

Faithful Family Workshops

Designed to support parents and caregivers, these seasonal workshops offer practical tools and spiritual guidance for nurturing faith at home. Each session explores topics to help families grow in love, resilience, and connection with God.

A Montessori-style religious education for children ages 18 months-5th grade. Children learn in a specially prepared environment called the Atrium. In this sacred, “hands-on” space, catechists and children hear, ponder, and celebrate the most essential mysteries of our faith as revealed in Sacred Scripture and Liturgy.

Solemn Communion

Every other year, CGS children’s ministry offers Solemn Communion preparation for children grades 2nd-5th. In this time, children learn more about the practice, mystery, spirituality, and joy of Holy Eucharist.

Young Families Programming

Throughout the year, St. Catherine’s offers several young families and intergenerational events such as Easter Egg hunts, family foot-washing service, Advent Wreath making, Shrove Tuesday pancake supper, stations of the cross, mom’s and dad’s group dinners, and more!

At St. Cat’s, we want our youth to grow in faith, ask honest questions, and build real connections. Whether they're exploring the Bible, wondering how God fits into everyday life, or just looking for a place to belong, they will find that place here.

Journey to Adulthood (J2A)

Journey to Adulthood is a youth curriculum program for 6th-12th graders. It’s centered on inclusive, relational ministry, and uses Bible study, prayer, rites of passage, and outreach ministries. Creative, developmentally appropriate lessons are arranged within three categories of Self, Society, and Spirituality.

Wednesday Night Live (WNL)

Wednesday Night Live (WNL) is an interclass offering for grades 6th-12th. This gathering focuses on community building through games, activities, and group lessons.

Confirmation

St. Catherine’s offers a confirmation class for those youth who wish to explore questions of faith and discern if they are ready to express a mature commitment to Christ through the Rite of Confirmation. Youth discuss scripture, explore the Episcopal tradition, and connect their faith with their lives.

St. Cat's LEAD

A youth empowerment program that seeks to mold the next generation of church leaders through mentorship, skill-building activities, and hands-on experiences.

Pilgrimage

Pilgrimage is the cornerstone and culminating experience of the J2A Program. The Pilgrimage is a holy journey where youth are invited to venture out into the world to seek their own encounter with the living, Jesus Christ. Distinct from a missions trip or sight-seeing expedition, the Pilgrimage is a spiritual trip, often taking our youth to locations that follow the traditions and lives of holy people. Past locations include Costa Rica, Scotland, The Grand Tetons, Italy, Ireland, Belize and more!

Urban Plunge & Adventure

The Urban Plunge is a weekend trip where our youth navigate an urban center, focusing on service, sightseeing, and living with a local parish. The Urban Adventure is similar but youth plan, navigate, and execute the trip themselves, under the safe observation of adult chaperones.

Mentor Program

The youth mentoring program pairs dedicated adults with youth. Mentors provide invaluable support, a compassionate listening ear, and guidance, fostering personal and spiritual growth in a nurturing environment.

Adult Sunday School

We offer various classes for adults on Sunday mornings (9:45 a.m. August thru May ) that examine current issues, lectionary readings, and seasonal themes that connect our Christian beliefs with our everyday lives.

Finding God in The Frazzle: For parents of all ages seeking to encounter God amid the beauty of family life.   This casual discussion class requires no pre-work and centers on learning and how practices like prayer impact household rhythms.

Finding God in The Everyday: This class invites participants to reflect on where they experience God in their daily lives beyond Sunday worship. Through weekly themes like work, social media, creation care, and family life, the course fosters shared storytelling and spiritual connection in the midst of everyday routines.

Finding God in Seeking Justice: Educating around topics of racial healing, reconciliation, diversity, inclusion and economic and social justice with the goal of fulfilling our baptismal covenant to “strive for justice and peace among all people and respect the dignity of every human being.”

Advent/Lent Offerings: Each Advent and Lent, our parish comes together for a special formation series rooted in the themes of the liturgical season. These offerings invite us to slow down, reflect, and grow in faith as we journey together through these sacred times of preparation and renewal.

FOUNDATIONS (Fall & Spring)

Offered twice a year, for five weeks leading up to All Saints Sunday & Pentecost. A course designed for anyone seeking a deeper understanding of Christian faith and prepares adults considering Baptism, Confirmation, Reaffirmation, or Reception into The Episcopal Church. FOUNDATIONS is also is open to anyone considering formal membership at St. Catherine’s and those who simply want to know more about the church.
