Adult Christian Formation

This Fall (2019) we are offering two options for Adult Christian Formation on Sundays between the 8:45 and 11:15 Services:

Option 1:

Connection Community & Calling: Exploring the Holy Adventure of Radical Hospitality --

This fall we will be offering a 12-week course presented by One Bread. This class is truly a discernment process and is open to all adults at St. Catherine's. Together we will listen for How the Spirit is calling us to be in community with each other and the world.

This course uses an action-reflection method for digging in deep.  Each week we'll be invited to read or do or engage in some meaningful way and then reflect on that action.  We can then begin to know who our neighbor is, to befriend our neighbor and to joyfully imagine being in the world we hope to build.

An optional, suggested reading list for this class follows. These books will help frame parts of our discussion, but reading them is not required to participate in the class: Hillbilly Elegy by J D Vance; Take this Bread by Sara Miles; Dare to Lead by Brene Brown.

Option 2:

Exodus and the Art of Heeding Calls --

This class will meet weekly beginning September 8 in the Conference Room. This year our class will examine the second book of the Bible.  We will follow Moses and his brother Aaron as they lead the people of Israel to the Promised Land. Perhaps we will find in this study "the how" and "the why" of their heeding their calls; in other words, what followed, “Who me? No, thank you.”   The class is presented by Ginny Acocella, storyteller. Each Sunday’s class is complete unto itself, so come when you can, even if it’s once in awhile. Drop-ins are always made to feel welcome.
