WELCOME SEMINARIAN, STUDENT, INTERN
SHANNON DARKE
Friends:
It is with great delight that I introduce to you Shannon Darke, our new seminarian. If her face is familiar, it's because we worshipped together during the online part of the pandemic. Shannon was on the leadership team, including serving as Warden, when Mandy was at Church of the Holy Spirit in Cumming.
Shannon is a postulant for the priesthood and doing the hybrid program at General Seminary in NYC. This means she'll be in person there about once a quarter but in town most of the time. She will be working about 10 hours a week at St. Cat's. I am absolutely thrilled to welcome her. She will be working in several areas of the church, and her work will change as her learning goals do. Some of her initial work includes meeting members of the parish for lunch or coffee to learn about who we are as a parish. If you get an invitation from Shannon, I hope you'll say yes! You can also expect to hear her in the pulpit from time to time.
You can read more about Shannon here. She begins with us on Sunday September 18th. Please come get to know her. There will be sheet cake!
With joy and delight,
Sarah+
Meet Shannon
I grew up in St. James Marietta, then have spent the last 15 years at Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit in Cumming, where I have had many different roles including two Vestry Terms, Verger, Women’s Ministry and Stewardship and served a three-year term on the board of the Episcopal Community Foundation.
I have been discerning a call to ordination to the Priesthood for many years. I am so excited to be in my first year of seminary at The General Theological Seminary and to have the opportunity to serve at St. Catherine’s.
I earned a Bachelors of Journalism degree from the University of Georgia and an MBA from Mercer University. I have a background in Communications and Marketing and am an active communications consultant specializing in integrated marketing campaigns. In my spare time I enjoy running, reading, relaxing at the lake and spending time with my husband Jim and our four children: Hunter (19), Jack (17), Benjamin (14) and Ellie (12).
